The pad is nice and comfortable. It does need fluffing regularly as any down pad will. It reminds me of my Aunt Saidy's real feather bed when we would visit her in the 1950's. (The bed was old even then)You could jump in and sink sooo far down! It was a bit warm on those summer nights in the south. But WOW soft.I was hoping for a bit more padding from this additional 4 inches of down, but after all it is 4 inches when fully fluffed. So when you lay down on the fluffed 4 inches, it can't do anything but flatten out where your body is pressing it down. It does feel really nice when you first lay on it. and when you move your arms and legs across it to different places it gives a comforting feeling. But if your underlying bed is a rock, then you will still be laying on a rock. One reason we purchased this was the fact that it was down filled and was pretty much allergen free.If we were able to find allergen free foam pad, say 2 to 4 inch, to put under the down topper that would be the cat's meow!30 April 2020 - Edit: After using the matters pad (for 5 + months now) I want to update the rating to a 5 star!Because, in comparison to others we looked it, it was the best choice. And on consideration of the product and the service, there was no reason to give it a three star in the first place. One of the reasons I purchased this particular mattress is because I and my wife suffer from allergies. I am glad to say that we have had no allergic reactions to this mattress. It has no bad odors (when it first came it did have a slight odor, but it quickly went away), and it is all cotton, so it does breathe. The pad arrived in good time and very good condition as advertised. It is totally allergen free and when used as directed, (Fluffed regularly), it is very comfortable. Obviously, if your original mattress is hard, you will need to fluff this feather mattress more frequently. This mattress has increased my comfort immeasurably, even though my original mattress is very hard. It has made for a lot more comfortable nights! The seller is efficient in delivery and the advertisement is correct in the details. I appreciate the seller's honesty .I got this topper because I have a fairly firm mattress and I found my shoulder and hip were numb when I woke up because I don't move around much when I sleep. I also needed something that didn't sleep "hot" like memory foam does.I coupled this with a 2" memory foam, using the foam for a bottom layer and this on top. I put a cotton-top protector over the whole thing and it is working great so far.I find it is somewhat soft but not squishy, which gives me a backache, and the whole thing seems to allow for air circulation / heat dispersal under my body so I'm not sweating and the pressure points are relieved.I have not noticed any odor so far--maybe that was a problem addressed by the company?I don't plan on washing it often so cannot rate it on that--typically putting it outside a day in the hot summer sun and plenty of airing is the best practice here--that's what they did in the days of featherbeds.I got this as a warehouse deal in king size for around one hundred dollars and for my purposes I consider it worth the money. I don't know long-term how it will hold up, but I'm fluffing and turning it when I change the sheets and hopefully that will help with compression. I would describe it more as a mattress topper in that it is true that it is not super-soft and lofty as opposed to a true "featherbed", which should be, and as a padded mattress topper it is so far delivering pretty well.Hope this helps if you are undecided.I don't usually write reviews, but I feel like I have to with this.I have a memory foam mattress and it's not terribly uncomfortable by itself, I'm just a bit spoiled as far as my down products go and I wanted a decent mattress topper. The price for this one and the reviews made it seem like such a deal, I couldn't pass it up. I was aware the bottom layer was feathers rather than down, but I didn't realize how thick the bottom layer was in comparison to the top layer. The majority of the thickness comes from the feather layer and the down layer seems to be for decorative purposes, because it certainly isn't thick enough for any practical use. While I'm sure this may work wonderfully for some people, it was definitely not what I was looking for. I'm not sure if there are some quality control issues and maybe I just got a defective topper or what, but this topper was extremely uncomfortable. The down layer is so thin, it may as well not be there. I have a cheap down comforter that is thicker and more comfortable than the down layer on this mattress topper. And yes, I let it "air out" after I opened it. And I fluffed. I fluffed like my life depended on it and the minimal improvement wasn't worth the effort. It'd feel okay for a little while, but wouldn't last long at all, definitely not through an entire night.I've had a feather topper before and this feels more like it than any down topper I've slept on. Had I known, I would not have purchased it because I have very vivid memories of how uncomfortable that horrible feather topper was. As with it, I can feel the feathers (beyond them poking through the material and my sheets which, yes, they do) it feels like sleeping on a pile of tiny twigs. It makes my mattress feel stiff and firm, like a board and I haven't been able to get a good nights sleep since I got it. I thought maybe it was just me, but after having members of the family test it out and agree, I had to admit to myself that it was the mattress topper. . .and, trust me, I really didn't want to admit that my "great deal" wasn't great, I fought it tooth and nail.Like I said, maybe mine is defective or maybe my expectations were different- I don't know. I honestly can't see how anyone could say it was comfortable. I gave it a fair shot and tried everything I could think of to make it work. . .I just could not find a way to make it comfortable. I'm grateful that Amazon has such a good return policy or I'd be pretty upset over this purchase.Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality I get for things at what seems to be a low price, this was not one of them.Topper arrived inside a large amazon box. Inside the box was the vacuum packed bag containing the topper. It was damaged in 2 spots, not sure if topper was damaged or not. Laid it out and fluffed every half hour for 9 hours. Covered with a protector and fitted sheet. Fit bed fine. The thickness is about 3" total basically top layer acts as a thick sheet to protect from feathers poking through bottom layer. To lay on it, you will NOT get a cushy cloud like softness. The feathers are packed in there pretty tight so its definitely more of a firm support that you may sink in to a little if you have some weight to you. We oredered this to add a soft layer to our new multi layer memory foam bed and it did not make it any softer. Unfortunately it did not meet our expectations and will be returned. Would give 5 stars to Amazon for their customer service in dealing with shipping but product itself is barely a 3 star and not worth $100 let alone almost $200.Perfect feels amazing , it does goes flat a bit but I have the most comfortable nights!I bought it because it had Fairly good reviews. However, I found after a night of sleeping on it. It was unsupportive. And I could feel a couple of really hard. Feathers not piercing through the fabric because it is soft, But they were still uncomfortable It's definitely not terrible. But I find that it misleads how much soft down it has it has more big feathers in it and he has synthetic stuffing in the outer rim.Amazon offered a return I am deciding if I'll be keeping or returning. Not a terrible product at all just not as comfortable or puffy as I hoped. At first there was a slight odor but it disappears in day or two. This feather topper turned a plain mattress into a luxurious one. Very soft & comfy like the best pillow top mattress.Fits perfectly (King) and very comfortable.
