I purchased this mattress topper because I needed extra firmness and support for my bed, and overall, it has been a great solution! However, I did have to experiment a bit to get the best results.First Impressions & Initial Use:Right out of the box, the topper expanded quickly and didn't have an odor. I let it air out for a few hours before using it. The extra firm side definitely lives up to its name—it provides a very solid feel, which I appreciated since my soft mattress was causing back pain. However, after sleeping on it for a few nights, I noticed it was sinking in certain spots, especially around my hips. Due to this my backpain was coming back and I almost returned the topper, but after doing some research I discovered that my mattress underneath was too soft, which was affecting the overall firmness of the topper.How I Fixed the Sinking Issue:To solve this, I decided to move my bunkie board from under my mattress to on top of it, so now, the topper rests on a completely solid surface. This small adjustment made a huge difference. The topper now feels uniformly firm across the entire surface, and there’s no more sinking in certain areas. If you don't have a bunky board a sheet of plywood could do the trick.Final Setup & Comfort:I started on the extra firm side, which was great for support but almost too firm for long-term comfort. After about a week, I flipped it to the firm side, which still provides excellent support but with just a bit more give.
